IAPS U11 Tournament Report by Charlie Bayliss (6F) - Captain

On Saturday, the U11 basketball squad competed in the IAPS  basketball tournament. Last year we won the tournament, so we were the title holders.

First, we played RGS prep school and were successful winning 8-4.

Second, we played Yateley Manor. This was not an easy game because they all played for a club so we didn't win but held our own. The score was 16-4.

Next, we played a good team called Royal Russell. They confused us because they all had 61 on the back of their jerseys but we only lost 8-4 so it was close.

After that we drew 8-8 against University College School. This was very tense and was a well watched game.

Right after that we played RGS in the playoffs and won, with Tommy hitting a buzzer beater (a shot in the last second).

The match after that was to win the plate and come third. It was the exact same as the last match but this time with Zack scoring the buzzer beater.

U13 IAPS Tournament Report by Lucas Howes (8B)

On Saturday, the U13 Solefield basketball squad competed in the IAPS tournament.

In our group the teams were: Westminster Under School, Kings College, Aldwickbury School and Lochinver House School.

We started the tournament with a win, beating Westminster Under School. Next we unluckily lost against a strong King’s College team. One win, one loss to start wasn’t bad at all.

Much to our surprise we managed to win against Aldwickbury. We battled our hearts out against them. To end the group stage, we played Lochinver and narrowly lost to them in the last few plays. We were unlucky in this but the team played well.

We came out of the group stage and went forward to the plate competition to decide 3rd and 4th place. We were up against St Beaumonts and started with a bang, with the score 6-2 to us at half time. Sadly, we let our game down and the end result was 8-6 to them.

In my opinion, we played really well. We may not have been the most technical team there but we were one of the most hardworking. We got unlucky and just lost in a few games. Overall, we battled not only for each other, but for the badge.
