Little Acorns News 06.12.24

6th December 2024

The Autumn term is almost over and this will be our final Little Acorns’ News before the holidays. We can’t believe how fast the time has gone and we have certainly finished on a high this week with your children’s amazing performance in the Pre-Prep Nativity. They were wonderful and we are incredibly proud of how they have all grown in confidence since September.

It has been our privilege to spend time with your beautiful children and to get to know them better this term, and we look forward to seeing them back at school in January. We would like to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Congratulations!

Well done to Mark who was awarded a resilience award this week for doing amazingly well changing and dressing himself independently. We are so proud of you!

Book of the week

The children have loved our Advent Book Calendar this week. We wrapped up a Christmas story for each day of December that we are at school and the children have taken it in turns to open one after snack each day. The different tales have led to some lovely discussions about Christmas traditions, both at home and globally. And of course, there has been much excited chatter about what Father Christmas might bring. We are intrigued to hear whether he manages to deliver on the request for a seahorse.

Our quote of the week

This week our quote comes from Callum. ‘Automatic means something opens all by itself’. Great knowledge Callum!

Christmas Craft Crazy!

The Little Acorns classroom has been awash with glitter this week. The children have been taking part in all sorts of activities, making tree decorations, printing their own Christmas bags, collaging wreaths and writing Christmas cards. They have been very busy little elves!

Star Bakers!

On Thursday the children had a go at making bread! They did so well weighing out all the ingredients and used their number knowledge to identify whether we had reached the correct amount and whether we needed more or less of something. Then it was into the bread maker and time to wait very patiently - for four hours! It was a valuable learning experience for the children to see how food is made from scratch, and that quite often, things are worth your time and effort! They all enjoyed tucking into some bread and butter for afternoon snack.

Something to look forward to

We can’t wait for the Christmas Fair on Monday, it’s always a highlight of the year. Don’t forget your Christmas jumpers!
