What a beautiful sunny week we have enjoyed in Little Acorns! We really started the week on a high with our trip to Riverhill and we have been taking every opportunity to get outside since. On that note, please make sure your child has a sun hat in school at all times!
Book of the week
This week we have taken a look at some poetry from ‘The Booktime Book of Fantastic First Poems’. It is so valuable for children to be exposed to all genres of literature at this age and poetry really helps with developing phonological knowledge as well as increasing vocabulary. The children particularly enjoyed the nonsense poems including ‘Eletelephony’!
Star bakers!
Last Friday afternoon, the ladies in the kitchen were kind enough to host us for a spot of baking. We had the most wonderfully messy time making energy balls, just what we all needed as a little pick me up after swimming! The Little Acorns really got stuck in, as you will see from the pictures! Cooking provides a great sensory experience and fine motor skill work out, as well as being a lot of fun. We hope the children enjoyed eating their creations at home.
Trip to Riverhill
We really were blessed with the most perfect weather for the trip to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens on Tuesday. We had a magical tour of the gardens, learning about pekinese racing, plant hunters and sharing a few precious mindful moments in the rock garden.
We then spent time den building amongst the bluebells before lunch on the lawn and plenty of good old fashioned fun in the maze and the playground! The children were wonderful and really embraced the day despite having very tired little legs by the end! What a memorable day.
Something to look forward to...
Next week we will be getting stuck into some messy play!
