On Wednesday Year 8 enjoyed a fiesta, celebrating the food, culture and traditions of Spain and Spanish speaking countries.
They learnt some phrases in Spanish ready to have a short conversation; numbers 1-20 and played Bingo; tested their general knowledge by matching flags with countries in South America.
They enjoyed eating 'churros y chocolate' from Spain, tortilla chips and salsa from Mexico! The table was soon cleared ready for a Mexican party game involving straws, cups and pinto beans! The winner was William, who managed to collect 20 beans in his cup.
We ended the fiesta with a 360 tour on the VR headsets of Angel Falls, Venezuela and a tour of Barcelona.
Finally, we watched a clip from Race Across the World - South America to get an idea of the vast variety of landscapes and cultures in Central and South America.
I hope the boys enjoyed their whistle-stop tour of Spanish speaking countries and feel inspired to continue exploring new languages in their next school.
