This week, the Solefield School Chess team played against Amherst School in a ten-board match representing the final match of this term. Solefield played some excellent Chess winning 9 out of the 10 games.
Special mention must go to Richard K in Year 3 who won starting with black, on board 1, against a Year 6 student.
As in previous matches this term, all games started and finished with a handshake and afterwards, some informal friendly games were played, giving the two schools the chance to chat and discuss their games.
Well done to the following boys:
Board 1: Richard K. (Y3)
Board 2: Ben D. (Y6)
Board 3: Raefe D. (Y6)
Board 4: Freddie C. (Y6)
Board 5: Kaya J. (Y6)
Board 6: Nico D. (Y6)
Board 7: Stanley N. (Y6)
Board 8: Felix T. (Y5)
Board 9: Theo D. (Y5)
Board 10: Maxwell E. (Y5)
As the standard of Chess at Solefield continues to improve, I look forward to our upcoming matches next term and the two days of Chess Holiday Camp over the Christmas break. For bookings and more information, click here.
