On the morning of Thursday 6th October, we had our Harvest Festival. Boys and staff brought in lots of food bank donations which will be going to local charities who support people within the community who need it most. Our donations will be helping families from all over Sevenoaks who are being affected by the current crisis. Thank you to all who brought in donations - a very good example of our school community coming together.
To celebrate the Harvest Festival, we had a wonderful assembly full of beautiful songs and poems performed by the whole school. From Reception performing ‘Big Red Combine Harvester' to Year 5 singing ‘The Greatest Sow’. Year 7 and 8 read us lovely Harvest Poems, all about how Harvest is a time for giving and being thankful. We also had a wonderful performance from our Chamber Choir, singing ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’. It was a really lovely morning and a good chance for all year groups to showcase their talents.
In addition to our Harvest Festival assembly, most year groups got the chance to make their own cottage loaves to celebrate the growing of wheat and crops during Harvest time. Those who didn’t get the chance to make their own loaves of bread, will get the chance to do so really soon.
Harvest is a really good time to reflect and be thankful for all we have, as a community we certainly did this and showed that we have a lot to be thankful for.
Well done to everyone for their performances and thank you again for all of your kind donations.
