On Monday we were honoured to receive Cllr Dr Merilyn Canet, The Mayor of Sevenoaks in our school.
She was invited by our Eco Committee to discuss ways in which we can make Sevenoaks a 'greener' place to live and we were happy to learn about all the positive work that is already being done by Sevenoaks Town Council.
One of the questions raised by students was, "How can we make Sevenoaks a more attractive place for younger people to enjoy?" Students have already given her a list of brilliant ideas which she has promised to share with the Council.
As a school we feel privileged to have been sent some tree saplings from The Woodland Trust in commemoration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and send our thanks to The Mayor of Sevenoaks for planting them with us. We shall enjoy watching them grow.
Cllr. Dr. Merilyn Canet - Mayor of Sevenoaks said, "I am extremely happy to have spent Monday at Solefield School with some amazing students who see the importance of planting beautiful new trees in our town!"
