Simon Starling is a Solefield Old Boy and artist who won the Turner Prize in 2005 for 'Shedboatshed'. For this, Simon made a shed and dismantled it, creating a boat that was paddled down the Rhine and then turned back into a shed.
He is fascinated by the processes involved in transforming one object or substance into another. He makes objects, installations, and pilgrimage-like journeys which draw out an array of ideas about nature, technology and economics. Simon describes his work as, "the physical manifestation of a thought process", revealing hidden histories and relationships.
He joined Sevenoaks School after leaving Solefield.
