We are delighted to have invited Tomos Roberts (a.k.a. Tom Foolery) to 'virtually' visit our boys next week. His poem, 'The Great Realisation' has had over 60 million views on YouTube and many people have been touched by his positive message. The Great Realisation has also been published as a book, with the tagline 'A story of hope, for a time of change'.
We all thank Mrs Alteirac for contacting him and arranging the visit, which is set for Wednesday 10th March. Prior to his visit, I am hoping to compile a collection of poems, on a similar theme, written by our boys. Boys in Years 4 to 8 are encouraged to enter The Tom Foolery Writing Challenge to:
* share their experiences of the past year;
* reflect on the effect the pandemic has had on all our lifestyles; and,
* to consider the changes to the world around us.
To help them prepare for writing, please find a time over this weekend to discuss the year that we have been through. Naturally, that will help them with the writing challenge. You might like to watch Tomos recite his poem (or even purchase his book as a keepsake). We will not be selling copies of the book at school next week; however, we have ordered many copies to offer the boys who write the most touching poems.
Please also watch the video I have prepared for the Tom Foolery Writing Challenge.
